Persona 5 Royal Best Personas Tier List
The Persona series has always been a fairly successful series of spin-off video games that branched off of the larger Shin Megami Tensei franchise.
However, with the release of Persona 5 – the Persona series has become widely more popular than the original franchise it spun off of and has become something that both old fans of RPG video games and those who just gave the genre a shot for the first time greatly enjoyed.
Persona 5 launched with a great roster of Personas that the player can use, which are essentially powerful beings that fight your battles for you – similarly to Pokemon but in a much more mature tone.

Whether it’s convenience that you’re looking for, power, or something specific to your playstyle, you’ll find the best options here. So, let’s get started.
The best Personas to use in Persona 5 Royal
While the game has many different Personas, we’re going to take a look at the 10 best ones!
1. Satanael
Satanael is a persona that is acquired at the end of the game, so it would surprise no one that it also happens to be the strongese.
He is Joker’s final persona and can be used for advanced fusion in New Game+, which makes him very useful for anyone who wishes to play the game for a second time.
His attacks are very powerful and his Almighty attacks deal a massive amount of damage. Additionally, Victory Cry is an ability that can heal both SP and HP once enemies are defeated, and there’s also New Tyrant’s Mind which increases 50% damage to all damage types, making him nearly overpowered under the right hands.
2. Maria
Maria is a healer Persona that is very convenient to use since leveling up and enhancing her is not very difficult even early on in the game.
She is the ultimate support persona since her abilities do things like fully healing and reviving knocked-out party members, and she has two passive abilities that help the team regenerate and recover from status effects.
So, she’s easy to level up, can be gained not too late into the game, and is a very powerful healer – making her the second-best Persona in the game. She’s only available in Persona 5 Royal, so you’re getting your money’s worth too.
3. Kaguya
Kaguya is a powerful persona that relies on magical damage and is best used to deal with one target at a time.
She has the advantage of being available very early on in the game – but if you play your cards right, this is one of the most damaging personas that throws in magical damage to your team.
Her Shining Arrows ability allows her to deal high damage but with a very small SP cost, and other abilities include things like a support-based Bless Boost skill too that make her a kind of an all-rounder persona to have on your team.
4. Yoshitsune
If you’re not into magical abilities and want a persona with massive damage potential, then Yoshitsune is who you are looking for. He can deal damage to multiple enemies at once, and the ability that makes that happen is upgradeable for more damage to be dealt.
There is nothing particularly complex about him, so it’s easy to throw him into different types of teams and still come out strong.
5. Messiah
Messiah is a DLC character for Persona 5 Royal – but don’t worry, he’s free. He’s a heal-type persona that is powerful against most magic damage types, can heal all party members, and curse enemy support skills.
All of these abilities are incredibly powerful when combined with the right types of upgrades, making Messiah one of the best support personas in the game that is surprisingly competent at dealing damage too.
6. Lucifer
Lucifer shares the same persona type as Satanael, which is the ‘Almighty Persona’.
And while he’s not as good as the number one choice on the list – he does not fall far behind. Thanks to Persona 5 Royal, new Incense options allow Lucifer’s magic stats to be maxed out and this improves him in many different ways.
For example, his attacksuses less SP and his infamous Morning Star ability becomes even stronger. All in all, he’s a great option to use if you don’t want to unlock Satanael.
7. Alice
Alice is one of the most iconic personas that have been recurring in the franchise and makes a cool entrance in Persona 5 Royal too.
She has great attacks and abilities that are Insta-kill if you manage to power her up enough.Additionallyy, she’s great at skills like supporting her team and repelling curses cast by enemies too.
And if you think you recognize her even if youhaven’tt played a Persona game before – yes, she’s based on the character from Alice in Wonderland!
8. Trumpeter
Unlike the other options on this listwhicht are damage, magic, healer, and support types of personas – Trumpeter is an exception as he is a Judge Arcana persona.
This means that he is an incredible defense option that allows him to learn many support skills, inherit the Almighty attack, andallows you to have other personas in skill slots since Trumpeter will count as a defensive one.
9. Alilat
Don’t be fooled by its strange appearance, the Alilat is an excellent defense-type persona similar to Trumpeter. It can repel curses, and blessed damage, and is essentially a bullet sponge for physical damage. It can additionally drain several different types of specific damages too, such as electricity, ice, and fire.
Although a recurring persona, it was surprisingly missing from Persona 5 until Royal came around, so it’s a great way to make the best out of the updated version of the game.
10. Fafnir
Fafnir is a great option for those who like ranged personas because he’s known as a Gun Persona for a reason. He has almost no weakness and is great with nuclear magic – so you’ll be covered pretty well if you use him with a diverse team that all pull their weight.
Fafnir is not a persona that you can use as a primary source of damage, but he’s a great team player thanks to the aforementioned reasons. And lastly, he can be upgraded very easily and can attain immunity to almost every type of damage aside from Almighty.
