Windows Hello is getting a major facelift in Windows 11. Microsoft is testing a fresh look for its authentication system with Windows Insiders. This update brings a cleaner design and better support for passkeys.
What’s New with Windows Hello
The new Windows Hello shows up when you log in to your PC or use passkeys for websites and apps. It’s easier to pick how you want to sign in now. You can switch between options like facial recognition, fingerprints, or PINs more smoothly.
Passkeys are getting a boost too. Before, using a passkey from your phone meant scanning QR codes with an old-looking interface. Now, it’s much simpler. You can use your phone to unlock your PC apps and websites without the fuss.
Microsoft is also letting other companies join in. Password managers can now plug into Windows Hello directly. This means you’ll be able to use your favorite password app with the new, sleek Windows Hello screen.
Here’s what’s changing:
- New look and icons
- Simpler passkey use
- Better mobile device support
- Third-party password manager integration
- Option to save passkeys to Microsoft account or other apps
We expect these changes to roll out to all Windows 11 users soon. For now, they’re being tested by Windows Insiders. The update aims to make signing in quicker and more secure for everyone.
