The Galaxy A51 is one of the most popular mid-range devices in 2020, no doubt about that and we’re just at mid-year, it launched late last year and its still very well talked about these days. In fact, Analysts declared it was the most selling Android device in Q1, 2020.
That’s not among Samsung phones or mid-range devices category, we’re talking overall, the device is popular especially in European and Asian markets according to GSMarena with the Redmi Note 8 Pro being a close rival. In Nigeria here, the device is also very popular, in fact, it trended a lot on Twitter a couple of days ago after Jumia shared a posted a riddle in the form of a tweet that accurately describes the Samsung Galaxy A51, Of course, a lot of people answered the question correctly which proves quite the amount of people have the device in mind.
I acquired the device for myself a couple of days ago and in a series of posts, I’ll be sharing a couple of things you should know and posting a couple of setups and hacks I’m using to even further enhance my experience with the device.
But first, let’s start with the root.

How much does it cost to acquire the Samsung Galaxy A51 in Nigeria?
The A51 is a mid-range device released by Samsung in December 2019 as a successor to the Galaxy A50 and a younger brother to the much bigger Galaxy A71 in the company’s affordable phone series line up, This device packs quite the spec and features, let’s take a quick look at those before we discuss pricing and if you should get it.
Samsung Galaxy A51 Quick Specifications
The Galaxy A51 is a 6.5″ device with a display resolution of 1080×2040 pixels super AMOLED display. It packs a 48MP main camera from its four cameras set up and can record videos in up to 2160p resolution (it can deliver footage in 4K mode).
The device uses the Samsung Exynos 9611 chipset and has two RAM size variations. 4/6GB RAM, ours is the 4GB RAM version. It’s also running on the latest version of Android 10 on Samsung’s One UI 2.0.
FYI, the battery on this device is 4000mAh which can last an average user up to day usage on a full charge, if you’re worried about audio, it has a loudspeaker and the 3.5mm jack, you can still get a pair of earbuds to listen to music with though, overall, it’s a nice device but is it worth the price?
How much is the Samsung Galaxy A51?
As at the time of writing this post, June 2020, this device is available for sale at Amazon directly from Samsung at around $273 which converts directly to ₦114,660 at the exchange rate of ₦420/$.
However, bearing in mind other costs and added fees from retailers, you’ll find this device from local stores like SLOT for around ₦125,000 and online stores like Jumia for ₦125,690.
You’d think this device would be cheaper if bought directly from the Samsung office, that’s what I thought too but upon getting to their branch in Ikeja city mall, it had an added fee of ₦2,000 on top making it ₦127,000. Bummer right? I know.
Wrapping it up
As of now, the cheapest store I’m aware of that sells the Galaxy A51 is SLOT Nigeria at the price mentioned above, that’s where my unit was purchased.
You can still take a look around other stores like 3C hub to figure out the price differences but it wouldn’t make that much difference. You could easily just save yourself the Strength and buy from Either Amazon (Global) or Jumia Nigeria (Local).
Should you buy this device? We don’t have much data to give you yet but soon we’ll be making a comparison of this device against others and how it stacks up.
